OWGS Summer Meeting 2019

On Friday 5th July, 40 Old Wykehamist golfers gathered at The Berkshire to enjoy a sunny day out of the office.

There were 36 who took part in the morning fourball stableford with the following able to enjoy lunch that little bit more:

¤  Matt Chaldicott won the individual (full handicap) stableford with 39 points. Charlie Hewetson and Alex Portz tied in second with 36 points, narrowly pipping Ben Stevens

¤  Tim Lewis had the lowest scratch score (74 or +3) and took home a wonderful tankard (that his 2 month old will likely destroy) as well as picking up longest drive (almost reached the ditch on Blue 16)

¤  David Parkinson won the Sen Man (over 60) competition with 34 points

¤  Charlie Rowley was nearest the pin

¤  Jack Keating was Jun Man

We were joined by four more for the afternoon round, so 40 played in total (versus 34 the previous year). We are keen to keep growing the event and using it as a way to bolster the number of members we have: the format is specifically designed to be different to other OWGS eventsÉ you play your own ball and choose which groups to go out in so there is no reason to be hesitant about joining in. The more the merrier and the Society provides generous subsidies to support this initiative.

We look forward to seeing even more people there next summer.
